Thank you for your interest in this project and for your help pointing young people our way. This course is extensively subsidised by the BFI and Dept for Education and it should make a difference to those who attend.

Last year we had 60 applications for the 20 places, so there is a significant chance your students will get on, we are looking for people who have tried to make some film before – especially animation or vfx, however we will also accept art, photography, graphics, stories etc as supporting material.

BFI Film Academy
Dear student
We are looking for young people (16-19) who are interested in a career in the film industry. The course is free (although there is a £25 deposit refunded after completion). There is a grant for travel costs. Currently there is a 3:1 success rate for applicants so there is a good chance of getting on. Deadline 29th September 2024 – 5pm.

The BFI Film Academy offers high quality training to the next generation of UK talent. If you are interested in learning or improving your skills in animation or VFX, this is the place for you. Please note – university students cannot apply.

During the BFI Film Academy, you will:
