Volunteering at FVW
Volunteers are an important part of our organisation and we really appreciate the time and effort they spend supporting the charity and helping filmmakers both young and old. If you become a volunteer we will refund up to £12 per day for travel and lunch and provide training and support during your placement in return for your generous donation of time. We also provide equipment and space for you to work on your own projects.
We currently have 2 volunteers, 1 works on project/company management and admin and the other working on technical systems and production. Each placement is for a minimum of four months and we recruit new people every two months so that there is a two-month overlap. This means that you will be working with a volunteer who has been with us for two months who will be able to show you the ropes. Similarly for your last two months you will help recruit and train a new person. Some volunteers elect to do a further four months, which we welcome.
There will be an initial review meeting two weeks after starting to see how you are getting on and for you to tell us what you want to achieve during your placement, then half way through there will be another review to check on your progress. Finally there’s the exit review to see how the placement went for us and for you.
