Free Animation Workshop & Student support
You are invited to apply for a free animation workshop funded by the ESF/SFA. This scheme is for young people who are having difficulties at school and offers an exciting and creative experience with built in careers support.
Typically the workshop runs once a week for a couple of hours over 4 weeks in curriculum time, followed by a series of follow up sessions for a further two terms, (including a school presentation session. We can work with up to 20 students at a time and use a tutor/student ratio of 1:3. Our workshop leader is BAFTA award winning Kevin Griffiths who leads a team of professional animators and 1-2-1 specialist staff, all with extensive experience of working with young people, (inc CRB and child protection training). The workshop will run at your school and we will bring everything we need with us.
The workshop will introduce the young people to animating, editing and recording sound. Each group will use our broadcast standard equipment to make an animation that will be presented to them on DVD and placed on YouTube. Each young person will also receive 1-2-1 sessions and be helped to develop a series of personal goals and to build a careers model. The aim is to use the animation to capture the young person’s interest and help them reinvigorate their school performance.
The workshop is free to the school as long as our funding requirements are met, these are:
- The students are potentially NEET; (potentially not entering employment or FE at 16, in danger of being excluded, truanting, behavioural difficulties, disruptive etc).
- The young people are between the ages of 14 and 19.
There is a limited budget to this programme and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
