Animation Techniques Club
Course Overview
Open for ages 10 to 16. This club will introduce you to the techniques used in 2d (flat) stop motion animation. During each session you will explore technical methods in very practical way to make short films. There will also be screenings with examples of the different techniques you are learning.
The last session of the club you will include sound recording and editing. Two weeks after finishing the club, we will send you a DVD of your animations to show your friends and family what you learned.
Who is it for? This club is for any young people interested in exploring different animation techniques in 2D (Flat animation), or as a continuation of the Saturday Club in Traditional Animation
To join this Club - No previous experience is required.
What will you learn? You will learn different techniques to create your animated films. They include: Drawn animation, Sand animation, Pixilation, Paint on glass, Silhouette animation, Clay animation.
The Club is led by BAFTA awards winning Kevin Griffiths with the support of volunteers interested in developing their skills in the creative industries. All our members of staff and volunteers are CRB checked. Each Club will have a group of a maximum of 12 participants and will consist of 5 sessions in our teaching space. Our animation projects are designed specifically to help students succeed in the creation of high quality animation work.
Tutor
BAFTA-winning Kevin Griffiths has many years of experience working with stop frame animation. He has directed three series of 'The Old Bear', 'Bob the Builder' and 'El Nombre'. Kevin is an accomplished puppet maker and puppeteer and is an expert in building models using armatures and aluminium wire.
