The London International Film Festival
The 5th LIAF ran in late August 2008 at the Curzon and other cinemas. It was our biggest so far with sold out screenings and fantastic films. Visit our festival site.
You can buy last years fantastic highlights DVD of the event, which gathers together 14 of the best short films screened at the 2006 festival, everything from the stunning pixilated cavalcade of demolition in Susanne Richter’s “With No Name” to the mesmerising rhythmic rush of images in Thomas Hick’s “I Turn my Face to the Forest Floor” to the wide-eyed wonder two children experience in Julia Arnova’s “A Beetle, a Boat and an Apricot” as well as eleven other gems. The films come from the UK, Estonia, Germany, Russia, USA, Canada, Spain, France, Hungary and Czechoslovakia and are an amazing snapshot of all that’s best about contemporary animation with an array of styles, genres_and techniques showing that animation can go to places and emotions that no other artform can. The DVD contains 105 minutes of animation and includes the magical animated trailer for LIAF 2006.
